Well, I don't want to "heart" this one because there is BS all over it, SAM. I will say that I snorted more than once and we've just had our one-year friendversary. There was actually a recent #squigglycareers podcast about "effective authenticity," and how bringing your full empathetic self to work is maybe not the best thing. To do empathy or not - is that really the question?!

You know, after I posted, I had a #vulnerabilityhangover and I thought, "Maybe I am delusional and I am really not empathetic after all, and he was right!

So thanks for the reassurance :-)

I'm going to listen to the podcast.

I’m sitting with this story, and comparing it to a time when I was in my early twenties and told that I was “too nice for business”—maybe the issue isn’t about being nice or not, but that people think they have the right to comment on how we behave, at all.

"maybe the issue was that I was following his lead and I shouldn’t be acting like him because he had “earned the right” to be assertive and I had not." -- ‼️‼️‼️

"it makes me even more sad that this stuff happens in education and particularly to teachers and leaders of small people." -- Alas, these are human issues, and even schools are run by people...

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm sorry that happened to you, too.
